Chalmette – This Sunday, June 8, from 4pm-7pm at the St. Bernard Community Playground in Torres Park, Ochsner will bring summer fitness activities and medical information to an area that continues to recover post-Katrina. Activities will include the Elmwood Fitness Center Mobile Fitness Unit, a bus outfitted with child-sized exercise equipment, and several fitness stations sponsored by local groups. Ochsner for Children will offer advice on healthy lifestyles and prevention of childhood obesity. Enjoy food, raffles and giveaways at this free event provided through a partnership between Ochsner, the St. Bernard Community Playground Project and the Recreation Corporation.
"Ochsner is committed to making healthy lifestyles an accessible goal for the entire St. Bernard community, so we’re taking fitness on the road and bringing local children a mobile PE unit and tips on staying fit," explains, Dr. Patrick Quinlan, Ochsner Health System Chief Executive Officer. "Likewise," Polly Boudreaux of the Playground Project shares, "we have a strong commitment by local groups to promote healthy lifestyle fitness activities for the whole family. On Sunday, various booths will be set up to highlight local fitness opportunities."
